Whittier Book Fair is Back!

This year, we’re pairing the joy of reading with the power of connection by hosting the Whittier Book Fair alongside Parent-Teacher Conferences. While you’re meeting with your child’s teachers, be sure to stop by the library to explore a fantastic selection of books for all ages.

Why Buy Books Through the Book Fair?
Shopping the book fair is a great way to support our school! 25% of all proceeds go towards purchasing books for the Whittier Library.

When and Where to Shop:

  1. In the Whittier Library during parent-teacher conferences:
  • November 19, 2:30 – 7:30 pm
  • November 24 and 25, 8 am – 2:30 pm

2. At Phinney Books (7405 Greenwood Ave. N). Tell them you’re shopping for the Whittier Book Fair!

3. Online via the virtual Whittier Elementary Book Fair, presented by Phinney Books.

This event also needs volunteers! Volunteers can bring their kids if needed for their short shifts. Easy way to support Whittier and Ms. Newcomb! Learn more and sign up >>

Questions? Please email Ms. Newcomb at shnewcomb@seattleschools.org.

Thanks to our fabulous partner, Phinney Books!

Wildcats Ice Skate

All are invited to have a great skate session with your Whittier community! Here’s how you can participate:

Become a Spring Fling Hero & Coordinate Class Art or Buckets!

We’re looking for volunteers to help coordinate CLASSROOM ART and BUCKETS, which will be auctioned off during Spring Fling. These projects are a fun short-term opportunity to get involved and help the school raise crucial funds.

  • Class Art: We need 1-2 people (if you want a helper) per room to lead their class in making a collaborative piece of art that will be auctioned at the event. We will help you brainstorm crafty ideas, source supplies, and coordinate with your homeroom teacher to lead your class in making art (usually one or two sessions working with the kids). You do not have to be an artist to volunteer! Check out last year’s projects and some inspiration to help you get started! Important note for volunteers! The district has a new process for approving volunteers this year, which can sometimes take a few weeks. If you are interested in leading a project, please email your teacher ASAP, and ask them to invite you to complete a background check. This will get the process rolling. Sign up to lead a classroom art project by November 30
  • Class Buckets: We are looking for one volunteer from each class to coordinate a themed bucket to be auctioned off at the Spring Fling. The volunteer will pick the theme and recruit other parents from the classroom to contribute items and/or money. Ideas for buckets could be anything! (ex: Family Game NightThe Art of LegoBallard BeerBackyard Pizza Night.) We are also happy to provide ideas for buckets that have worked well in the past. Sign up to coordinate a class bucket by November 30
